HDPE Rotational Molding Grades

HDPE Rotational Molding Process

This is a manufacturing method in which high-density polyethylene (HDPE) powder is heated inside a rotating mold to produce hollow, seamless products. This technique creates durable, uniform, and lightweight items, making it ideal for applications that require strength and resilience.

HDNEX1821 and HDNEX1822 Compounds (3840-based)

  • Group: Heavy-Duty Polyethylene Rotational and Injection Molding (HDPE)
    Melt Flow Index (MFI): 3.5 – 4.5 g/10 min (190 °C / 2.16 kg)
    Density: 0.935 – 0.945 g/cm³
    Powder Size: 300 – 500 µm
    Equivalents: SABIC – M40060S / CC453 / M453SE
    Form: Granules and Powder
Color and Additives: Customizable according to customer requirements

Features of HDPE Rotational Molding Grades (HDNEX1821 & HDNEX1822):

    • Excellent Impact Resistance:
HDNEX1821 and HDNEX1822 maintain complete integrity under sudden or severe impacts without breaking or cracking by absorbing and distributing impact energy. Products made from these materials are less prone to damage from drops or collisions.

    • Easy Mold Release:
This property is particularly important in rotational molding. It ensures that the final product can be easily removed from the mold after cooling. This makes HDNEX1821 and HDNEX1822 ideal for producing large items that require smooth mold release while maintaining product quality and performance.

    • UV Stability:
Products made from these HDPE grades retain a clean, bright, and glossy appearance. HDNEX1821 exhibits high light reflectivity across the visible spectrum, resulting in a clear, bright white finish. This is valuable for applications where a clean, high-quality visual appearance is important.

    • Superior Surface Finish:
This feature ensures a smooth, uniform, and high-quality exterior surface. Rotational molding with HDNEX1821 allows large, visible products to maintain an attractive appearance while delivering enhanced performance and quality

HDNEX1821 and HDNEX1822 Compounds (3840-based)

HDNEX1821 and HDNEX1822 are high-density polyethylene copolymers with a narrow molecular weight distribution. These polymers are produced using 1-butene (C4) as a comonomer and are suitable for rotational molding (Rotomolding) and injection molding applications. They have a density range of 0.935–0.945 g/cm³ and a melt flow index (MFI) of 3.5–4.5 g/10 min. HDNEX1821 and HDNEX1822 are available in granule and powder forms and include general antioxidants and light stabilizers as additives.

🏭 Applications of HDPE Rotational Molding Grades (HDNEX1821 & HDNEX1822)

HDPE rotational molding grades, HDNEX1821 and HDNEX1822, are specifically recommended for rotational molding applications, particularly for producing large, durable items. The properties of HDNEX1821 make it ideal for outdoor use, resistant to environmental factors, and suitable for manufacturing large structures through rotational molding.

Colors Used in HDPE Rotational Molding

In rotational molding (Rotomolding), choosing the right color is crucial, as it affects not only the product’s appearance but also its durability, UV resistance, and surface quality.

Standard and commonly used colors across industries include:

  • Translucent/White: Base color, often used without added pigments.

  • Glossy White: Clean and reflective, commonly used in general or sanitary applications.

  • Black: Popular for UV resistance and outdoor applications.

  • Red: Common in safety products, toys, and fuel tanks.

  • Yellow: Used in safety products, road equipment, and children’s play items.

  • Blue: Suitable for water tanks, recreational products, and branding purposes.

  • Green: For wastewater tanks, environmental containers, and landscaping products.

  • Orange: High-visibility safety items.

  • Gray/Silver: Industrial parts and neutral-design applications.

  • Beige/Sand: Decorative items and natural-environment applications.

  • Brown/Terracotta: Planters, bins, or outdoor furniture.

  • Custom Branding Colors: Tailored to corporate or product identity (e.g., RAL or Pantone matching)

Special Effect Colors in HDPE Rotational Molding

  • Special Effect Colors in HDPE Rotational Molding:

    • Metallic (Silver, Gold):
Adds a luxurious appearance to products, creating a shiny, metallic effect.

    • Glow-in-the-Dark:
Used in toys, warning signs, and safety equipment. It glows in the dark and requires prior exposure to light.

    • Granite / Speckled Effect:
Simulates the appearance of stone or helps hide scratches. Commonly used in planters and outdoor items.

    • Transparent / Translucent:
Limited use, mainly for thin walls and special resins. Often applied in cases like liquid level indicators
